Rachel Tipton

Based in Lille, France, Rachel brings a unique background to software engineering. Originally from outside Chicago, they have lived and worked in France since 2011, splitting their time between Lille and a village in Belgium. After five years successfully running a freelance technical editing and translation business, alongside teaching at universities, they pivoted to software engineering.

They graduated from General Assembly’s Software Engineering Immersive Course in May 2022, gaining expertise in JavaScript, Python, and API development with the MERN Stack and Django. Their humanities background, enriched by biostatistics and medical writing training, has cultivated an appreciation for clean data structures and helping researchers communicate effectively with their data.
